Quintessential Quintuple-Centurion Craig Smith Hits 500 parkruns

On the morning of the 6th of February 2010 Craig Smith began his parkrun journey at only the 4th Newcastle parkrun event, finishing 12th place in a very respectable time of 19:45.

Fast-forward over twelve years to present day and Craig clocked his 500th parkrun this morning at the 543rd Town Moor (formerly Newcastle) parkrun event. Fittingly a ‘Toon Run’, pacing 23 minutes in style with a large contingent of friends and Heaton Harriers.

Craig’s best time of 18:17 came in February 2013, finishing 2nd in the field at Newcastle parkrun. In addition to his 500 parkruns Craig has made an outstanding contribution volunteering 254 times!

Craig’s dedication and amazing achievement makes him only the second Heaton Harrier to realise this feat and receive the prestigious blue parkrun tee. Putting him in excellent company with fellow parkrun stalwart Allen Mulliss.

Well done Craig Smith on behalf of all at the club.
