About Anita Nott
Anita was a member of Heaton Harriers for a number of years. Anita raced in all disciplines from cross country to road and track and produced some outstanding results. As well as regularly racing for the club and being amongst one of our top-performing ladies (winning the Davidson Shield on a number of occasions and the local 5k Sunshine run) she also immersed herself in the organisation of club events and also supported many of our younger runners who were just starting out.
This tremendous support and enthusiasm for the club and its members and a real love for running was evident in all that Anita did. Anita never made excuses as to why she couldn’t do something she just got out and did it. She was very keen to promote veteran running and as such welcomed generous prize structures in local races that highlighted the strength in depth of the veteran field. For this reason, we have an extensive prize list for our women’s only race to encourage everyone to take part and remember not only why we run but show everyone just how well we do it!
Anita tragically lost her life in September 2006 whilst out on a training run. As a club we were heartbroken to lose such an amazing person and as such decided to dedicate our women’s only run to her name. This race has been well supported over the years. Anita was very keen to see women getting involved in running and would have welcomed all abilities taking part in the event.
We ask that you come and support our event and remember a great athlete! This could be the start of your athletic journey!
