Ben Cook’s Metrothon

Whilst most harriers were spending the bank holiday weekend doing their final long runs and preparations for the Great North Run in 2 weeks’ time one harrier was spending it doing something very unique all in the aid of a good cause.

Ben Cook ran the entirety of the Tyne and Wear Metro over two days. The Green line from South Hylton to the Airport on day 1 (27 miles) and then the Yellow line from South Shields to St James’ on day 2 (36 miles) Ben ran as close as he could to the Metro lines each day following the lines from start to finish. The Tyne and Wear Metro believes no one has done this before as well – a combined total of 63 miles and 73 Metro stations, and Ben did this in a combined time of 11 hours and 30 minutes.

Whilst doing this he gained some attention from the local press as well. See the below links:

All this was in aid of the Running Charity Ben where Ben has so far raised over £1300. Massive kudos to Ben who only one week ago injured his foot whilst completing another running challenge.
