Blyth 10k 2023

Twenty Heaton Harriers participated in the annual Blyth 10k yesterday. In what was perfect racing conditions in glorious spring sunshine on a flat PB chasing course we had lots of success to shout about.

David Young was first home for the club and 4th place overall in a new 10k PB time of 32:36. Well done David, surely you’re the favourite for next weeks Ringtons Cup?

First female home for the club in 45:41 was the ever-present Nina Cameron who also bagged 2nd place in the V50 age category.

Other age category wins on the day included John James – 2nd V60 in 44:10, Jenny Friend – 2nd V60 in 50:57, Janette Kilgour – 2nd V70 in 1:17:19 and George Routledge – 3rd V75 in 1:20:32.

There were numerous other 10k PBs from Heaton Harriers, well done to everyone who ran. Hopefully, it is a sharpener for next Sunday’s North Tyneside 10k. If you don’t have a place at the NT10k next Sunday and fancy a 10k there are lots of opportunities coming up including Sunderland City Runs on 7th May and the Great North 10k on 2nd July.
