About The Session

Groups 1, 2 and 3 Fartlek Pyramid Session

Groups 1/2/3 have the choice of trialing a new fartlek/pyramid session which we will all be doing next month as a session.

  1. Starting at the Cycle Hub on the Quayside (NE6 1BU or see above map) run a 2 minute warm up along the quayside heading west towards Newcastle.
  2. At a high tempo pace run for 90 seconds then have a 90 second easy run. Repeat this 2 times. 6 minutes total.
  3. At a high tempo pace run for 60 seconds then have a 60 second easy run. Repeat this 4 times. 8 minutes total.
    After 2 efforts and 2 recoveries turn around so you are running back towards the Cycle Hub (Eastwards)
  4. At a high tempo pace run for 30 seconds then have a 30 second easy run. Repeat this 4 times. 4 minutes in total.
  5. At a high tempo pace run for 15 seconds then have a 15 second easy run. Repeat this 6 times. 3 minutes in total.
  6. Then complete the session with a 2 minute cool down. At the end of this you should be near where you started the session at the Cycle Hub

Or Tempo Run with Groups 4, 5, 6

Run a 20 minute tempo run along the Quayside (Newcastle side) after a short warmup together.

Starting at the Cycle Hub (NE6 1BU or see above map) run along the quayside towards the city for 10 minutes then turn around and run back towards the Cycle Hub for 10 minutes.

This is a tempo run so it should be ran at a comfortable pace.

Note: We will not be meeting at Cochrane Park for this session.

Please watch out for members of the public, cyclists and dogs on the Quayside especially around the Pitcher and Piano and between the Millenium Bridge and Tyne Bridge. The quayside can get busy sometimes and we do not have right of way.
