Saturday saw the annual Cross Country Sherman Cup at South Shields Temple Park. It is the only scratch race in the Harrier League calendar combining the results from all races for an overall winner.
This year saw Morpeth Harriers retain the Sherman Cup (Male) and Tyne Bridge Harriers retain the Davison Shield (Female).
The course was still fresh in the memories of many who ran the North Eastern Championships in reverse here 4 weeks prior. Four weeks ago the course was hard and icy, Saturday the ground conditions would probably be described as claggy despite the clear blue skies.
Heaton Harriers finished 9th overall in the Davison Shield with Ellie Reed first home for the club in 11th place overall and 2nd in the V35 age category. Well done Ellie who also went on and finished joint 1st female on Sunday in the North Tyneside Trail 12k. Some great running Ellie.
In the men’s Sherman Cup table, Heaton finished 14th overall with Lee Daglish first home for the club in 89th place overall.
12 Heaton Harriers completed the women’s race and 13 Heaton Harriers completed the men’s race. Thanks to everyone that ran and represented the club.
