We are pleased to report another successful weekend for the Heaton Juniors Cross Country Team.
The Club had four members representing Northumberland Schools in the Northern Schools Inter-Counties Championship at Farringdon on Saturday. This is a competition between Northumberland, Durham, North Yorkshire and Cleveland.
In the Under 14 boys, Alex Smith was placed 21st and was 5th counter for Northumberland and Joseph Brown was 55th and 11th out of the Northumberland Team. Alex now stands a good chance of being picked for the County 8 for the Nationals in Nottingham in March following his 5th place in the County race. Northumberland were 3rd team.
In the Under 14 Girls Mary Parkin was placed 10th and was 2nd counter for Northumberland and also therefore stands a good chance of making the County 8 following her 4th place in the County race. Again, Northumberland were 3rd team.
In the Senior Girls race, Rosie Swatman was placed 42 and was 15th from the Northumberland team. Northumberland were the winning team in this race.
Congratulations to all. It’s fantastic to see our Junior athletes representing their counties in representative fixtures.
