Saturday saw the penultimate harrier league fixture of the season at Thornley Hall Farm in County Durham.
With fair running conditions, the course was in good condition compared to previous years which was probably a welcome sight for everyone.
Junior races
Heatons biggest success on the day was in the boys U13 race where a team consisting of Alexander Smith, Joseph Brown and Alexander Parkin finished 1st team. Well done boys, great running.
Women’s race
In the senior races, Ellie Reed was first Heaton Harrier home in 26th place from the fast pack. Ellie, Nina Cameron, Libbie Read who is returning from injury and Vicki Addison completed the women’s team in 9th place overall. This leaves the Heaton women in 8th place overall in the table with one fixture remaining.
Men’s race
In the senior men’s race, David Young was first Heaton Harrier home in 64th place from the fast pack. Just behind David was Bryan Ankers and Lee Daglish. Completing the team were Jason Wall, John Sturman and Alex Cook. Heaton’s men finished in 8th place on the day leaving the team still in 9th place overall with one fixture remaining.
In total 15 women and 16 men ran in the seniors and 9 juniors across multiple races. Well done and thank you to everyone that ran. The last fixture for the NEHL is on Saturday 4th March at Alnwick. Hopefully, the Heaton senior men can remain in the top division with a good turnout.
