Heaton Harriers won quite a few prizes at the Anita Nott race last night. Some great individual performances by the Heaton ladies and a team prize…
1st in the V40 age category and 11th overall was Ellen Tullo (20:53) and a cool 30 seconds ahead of 2nd V40 woman. Well done Ellen.
2nd in the Senior age category and finishing 7th overall, Libbie Read continued her fine running form in a time of 20:07.
2nd in the V35 age category and finishing 6th overall was current Heaton Harrier athlete of the year Ellie Reed in a time of 19:57.
Ellie, Libbie and Ellen combined won the 3rd place team prize. It was a very close run race between Gateshead Harriers and Heaton for 2nd place but still a great achievement for a small club like Heaton to come 3rd in such a well attended race from clubs across the region. Well done girls!
Continuing the prizes for Heaton, the ever present Janette Kilgour finished 1st in the V70 age category with a time of 33:37. Well done Janette. Another prize to add to your ever growing collection of Top 3 finishes this year!
But the greatest achievement of the night probably goes to junior Mary Parkin who I believe only turned 13 on Saturday. Mary finished 2nd in the U18 age category in a time of 21:35. What a run from Mary! I heard it may have also been Marys first mass start race with adults so it clearly didn’t phase her!
Well ran everyone. It was a great turnout and so great to see many Heaton vests. We understand it may have been quite a few first times putting on the Heaton vest and representing the club for some members. If you enjoyed the evening and want to experience a similar atmosphere then please consider the Track and Field events in the coming weeks (Speak to Calum if you want to give it a go) or Cross Country season will be among us in September. We cant guarantee the good weather but the vibe and feel of the events are the same as last night.
Thanks to Ellie Clark, Chris George and Stuart Whitman for the photographs.
