About The Session
This is the same session as the Newton 1k, 2k, 3k but in reverse along the same route. Starting at the Newton Park Pub on Benton Road this is an interval session round 2 loops anti-clockwise of the Newton Park course (8k total running)
3k effort followed by 1k recovery.
2k effort followed by 1k recovery.
1k effort – Finish.
In groups of equal ability start your first loop with a 3k effort followed by a 1k at recovery pace which will take you back to the Newton Park Pub. Start the second loop with your next effort of 2k followed by a 1k recovery. This will take you to the 3k mark. Finish the session with a fast 1k back to the Newton Park Pub.
This session is quite demanding so if its done on a Thursday it is advised if racing at weekend to either just do 1 lap or make the efforts low tempo pace.
The Route
The route starts at the Newton Park Pub, run north up Benton Road.
Turn left onto Swarland Avenue before Tescos and take the first right at Benton Lodge Avenue.
Run to the end of the street and turn left onto Benton Park Road.
Run along this road pass the entrance to HMRC, Shell garage and Lidl until you reach the South Gosforth double roundabouts.
Turn left up Freeman Road and take the second left onto Lilburn Gardens.
Run to the end of the street where you will join the waggonway.
Turn right onto the waggonway and run to the end until you reach the finish at Newton Park pub.
