Balliol 600m Circuit

A favourite with members. We train at Balliol Business Park during winter months. It is pan flat, well lit and virtually traffic free, we train from anything from 400m efforts to 1mile efforts. Distances are marked on the pavement.

Starting at the bus stop on Red Hall Drive nearest to Etherstone Avenue this is a pacing judgement exercise. Run out onto the course for 20 minutes then turn around and retrace your steps to get back to the bus stop in 18 minutes. Warning there is a slight uphill section near the end.

4k Time Trial

Starting at Newton Park pub on Benton Road with a mass start, run north up Benton Road turning left into the estate at the dentist and cut through avoiding the shops to Benton Park Road. Run to the end and turn left up Freeman Road. Cut through at Lilburn Gardens to join the wagonway. Run along to the end back to the pub.

5 Mile Tempo

Starting at the bus stop on Red Hall Drive nearest to Etherstone Avenue this is a tempo run. Run down Red Hall Drive to the Coast Road and turn left. Run along pass the Wills Building to the underpass and cross under to join the top of West Street. Run down to Rutland Ave and along Appletree Gardens. Turn right up Benfield Road to Crosslings and run along the opposite side of Coast Road to the underpass, then run back to where you started.

Gosforth Park Paarlauf

In pairs of equal ability run one lap of Gosforth Park in an anti-clockwise route hard. When finished your partner will run one lap, repeat until the end of the session. When it it not your turn running run a smaller inner lap as a cool down/warm up for the next lap.
