A strong contingent of 20+ Heaton Harriers travelled out to the sunny island of Mallorca this weekend to compete in the Palma 10k and Palma Half Marathon. The annual trip has become a bit of a tradition in the club in recent years with a good mix of members, old and young taking advantage of the warmer weather and good summer training to run a flat half or 10k.
This year however Heaton Harriers managed to storm to 1st and 2nd place in the half marathon! Well done to James McKenzie for literally leaping to victory in the half in a time of 1:13:02. This is just 1 week after James competed in the London Marathon so a well-earned rest is needed now Tigger. Just behind Tigger finishing in 2nd place was David Young finishing in 1:13:36. Great running by both in a field of over 2000 runners from across Europe.
Little did Palma know that a small running club from the North East of England would take over their half marathon.
