About The Session
This is a higher tempo run of approximately 6 miles starting and ending at Cochrane Park. This is the clubs traditional quayside route except for an alteration to avoid Chillingham Road and the Tyne Bridge whilst restoration works are happening.
Route 1 for Groups 1-5 (6 miles) with Route alteration whilst the Tyne Bridge restoration is happening.
After crossing the Millennium Bridge continue to the Swing Bridge and cross back to the Newcastle side of the Quayside. Run back up through Byker and Heaton the way you came down. Pace is higher tempo, so working hard enough to speak a few sentences whilst running, but not an easy run.
Route 2 for Groups 6+ (4 miles)
Any groups that would like a shorter session there is an option to cut out the quayside part of the loop by running over Byker Bridge to rejoin the loop at Shieldfield running across Armstrong Bridge. Pace is higher tempo, so working hard enough to speak a few sentences whilst running, but not an easy run.
As always be careful with road crossings and street furniture. You might have to adjust your pace for this at certain points particularly at the top of Shields Road. There is a temporary tunnel on the Quayside under the Tyne Bridge. Please watch out for other pedestrians along the Quayside.
