This 3 mile race is free to enter for all club members. It is your chance to beat the handicap and claim victory.
You must pre-register your intention to run via the Spond app. If you have not pre-registered you will not receive a time. There will be no registrations on the night. This is to speed up the event and results process after the race.
A handicap race means every runner has the chance of victory regardless of ability. The race is you against your predicted 5K time. If you are running well and better than your normal 5K time the victory could be yours.
Note: We are now running the Handicap course at an alternative venue until we find a permanent new home.
The Route: Rising Sun Parkrun Course
Starting next to the main Rising Sun Visitors Centre run downhill towards the first trail path next to the main centre gates and turn left. At your first right turn right following the path heading downhill towards the main waggonway. When you get to the main waggonway turn right and run down the main waggonway past the bird hideout on your right towards the wooded tree area. At the wooded tree area turn left and run up through the trees and down the other side next to the small pond. Here you run along the main tree line with the pit heap in front of you and a field on your left until you reach another junction where you turn right. Run along this trail path with some a new housing development on your left until you reach the back of Davidsons garage were you turn right again to run through the wooded area alongside the main Whitley Road. Run until you reach the main waggonway again passing the Butterfly Gates on your left and making a right turn with the Asda car park on your left. Continue on the main waggonway for nearly 1 mile passing the bird hideout on your left and going back the same way you came to main visitors centre making two left turns and one final right turn back to the start.
