About The Session
A Michigan workout is a tough session designed to improve running fitness. This originated as a longer track workout and involves efforts increasing in speed with a mile tempo effort in between. It is typically ran as a one mile at 10k pace, one mile tempo, 2k at 5k pace, one mile tempo, 800m effort, one mile tempo and then a 400m sprint.
Faster groups may benefit from trying to complete this workout with a faster tempo pace where slower groups may want to reduce their tempo pace. A reminder; tempo pace should not be conversational. You should be able to speak some works whilst running but not complete sentences.
Groups 5 and 6 may want to reduce tempo pace to an easy run.
It is a tough session so plan for easy runs around it. We will run this session in the usual numbered groups.
Note: Please park in the public car park next to the Nuffield Gym so you don’t obstruct the route.
There may also be a section of the course where the street lights are not working. If you have a head torch this would be recommended.
